My heart goes out to you as we're in a similar situation. My husband is also experiencing Alzheimer's type symptoms from 8 years of statins. He stopped over 4 years ago, was much improved for a couple of years, but then on the decline again. He's also now experiencing Parkinson's type symptoms; hand tremor, slow movement, difficulty speaking. We've stayed from allopathic Dr's for 4+ years but I finally contacted a Neurologist to retest PET and MRI's to see where we are today. I hate the thought of putting him on any more drugs. We have a Naturopathic Physician who's been very supportive and researched endlessly trying to help repair some of the statin damage. My husband took Zocor for a couple of years, then Lipitor for 5 years. We only made the connection to memory loss and statins from Dr Gravline's 1st book, "Lipitor - Thief of Memory".

I have not posted in a very long time. Its really good to see people still on this message board and I have missed yall. I have just been busy taking care of my kids and husband. I have problems with my memory too. I often repeat myself or tell someone something twice not realizing it. I don't really know if the lovastatin caused it or if its just the way I was born. I do know that the problem of repeating myself did get worse after the lovastatin. I tend to forget things easily. My friends and family sometimes have noticed that they have to repeat certain things that they have previously told me. I guess its a problem listening or just remembering the conversation. Its embarrassing!

I was prescribed Lipitor more than 2 years ago. Shortly after I asked for an Alzheimer's test the doctor asked me three questions, which I could answer and that was it. The Lipitor dose was doubled by one of the doctors at the clinic and it was after that that I had the problems, my muscles everywhere were affected as well as my joints. I stayed on it for a few months, but stopped because my memory which used to be really good was suffering, and the only change I could think of was the Lipitor. I thought I was dying. I couldn't even dress myself properly and had trouble using the toilet, unable to put my arms up or behind me. That is when I started googling to find out what was wrong with me.

I dropped the Lipitor after researching it on the web, and categorically told the doctors that I will not take it and why.

I have recently had an MRI and seen a neuropsychologist who found that I have severe gaps in my short term memory. [b]The MRI shows that my two frontal lobes have shrunk[/b] which is the cause of my memory problems. I had started taking CO Q 10 on the advice of a friend, and I took Osteoeze Active for the joint pains. The doctor suggested I take Fish Oil 1000mg once a day. And the Specialist suggested I also take Caltrate 600mg three times a day.

I get lost if I drive somewhere I am not familiar with and without my Street Directory would be in real trouble. I even get lost on the freeway where I am familiar and wonder exactly where I am.

I have been recommended to see a sleep therapist next to see if I have sleep Apnea. All of this is costing me a lot of money I can't afford to part with because I am an old age pensioner.

I keep as active as I can. But life seems very bleak to me right now.

I live in Australia and I am thinking of going to a law firm to see if there is a class action lawsuit against Pfizer here. The complete lack of knowledge about the dangers of Lipitor among the medical profession here is very disturbing. I printed off some material and gave it to my regular doctor over a year ago but she still wanted me to have more Cholesterol blood tests. The Specialist even had me lie on a Lipitor towel on her examining table. I told her that I blame Lipitor.
