Pretzels and grapes are very high carb. Watermelon is almost all water, and so moderate amounts are not too bad. Popocorn in small amounts is also not too bad, but have it WITH lots of real butter!
See if you can switch from pretzels to nuts, and strawberries instead of grapes.
Make the main part of every meal protein: meat, eggs, poultry, fish. Have plenty of "green vegetables": brocolli, cauliflower, green beans, and salads with olive oil dressing. Skip the potatoes, bread, and pasta.
Have eggs and canteloupe for breakfast, and skip the toast. Pour real cream on the canteloupe.
I suggest you have a look at 2 books:
1. "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution" In my opinion this is still the best book to tell you what it is like to eat a diet restricted in carbs, so you'll know what to expect.
2. "Life Without Bread" by Allan and Lutz. This is not really a diet book, but gives lots of data and clinical evidence that restricting carbs pays off for health. Benefits covered include heart disease, digestive ailments, the immune system, and diabetes, which your blood sugar level shows you are headed for. Lutz is an Austrian medical practitioner, who has been on a low carb diet for 40 or so years. I think he is now in his 90's, and he published this book in 2000.
You might guess (correctly) that I am recommending to you books that have helped me, and the diet I maintain.
Let me know what happens, and good luck!
